At the same time Mazda could leverage the partnership to grow their production capacity - it would be a massive win-win. New Mazda plants in the US, building cars for Ford, the capacity of which shifts from Ford only to Ford/Mazda to Mazda only as the contract runs out.

Ford gets reliable and (relatively) fun sedans and hatches, Mazda gets money and expanded capacity, hopefully my eco-boost Miata bastard child gets built.
