And sorry the original question was going to an 08+STI but now I am considering trading in for a 2006 STI instead. This would leave me in the same amount of debt. The local dealership has one that looks good interior wise and has 42k miles on it. I'll have to check it out for any mechanical issues, but pending that that comes out ok it would seem like a good trade maybe?
Sti's don't have forged pistons. And your tranny broke fall to pieces on the track unless your making some decent power or you don't know how to drive a stick....I've worked at Subarus dealerships for a few years now and the majority of 5 speed tranny issues I've seen usually boil down to user error.
