No, you're on the right path. Get a really good front stage(within your budget) and amplify that appropriately. Rear should just be "rear fill". Especially if you're thinking of adding a sub eventually. If your amp is really pushing 100watts RMX x2, then I'd keep it. Run your fronts off that(a good 6.5 component set). Keep your rear speakers. Sell the fronts to get some money for decent replacements. Do you think you'll be getting a sub eventually, or is that a ways off, or never? If not, then look for some front stage that have a smooth sound all across the range. If you think you'll be getting a sub, I'd look for something with very powerful mid-bass. The problem is, the ones that are going to sound the best, are going to be deep, and require spacers to fit in the door(not tremendously difficult to do either). I was quoted $50 to install the fronts with custom, angled spacers(angled the speaker a little back towards me). I'd look at Alpine's SPR135's. They're relatively cheap, and sound good. Also try out Boston Acoustics. I'd suggest MB Quarts, if you are going to get a sub, otherwise, the mid-bass might be a little too punchy without one.
