Default My 2004 Rumble Wagon <3

I purchased my Subaru WRX Wagon November 23rd 2007. Of course I remember the day.
I searched for over a month looking for the perfect car. A WRX wagon was my dream car and I was determined to find the right one.
By chance, I stopped at the local Subaru dealer to see if they had anything good. After many disappointing cars, my hopes were not high. I was very surprised.

In their used lot was a 2004 WRX wagon with only 28k miles, nice wheels and modest tint job.
Except it was BRIGHT red.
Despite the obnoxious color, I was instantly in love and took him home the next day. At the time, I didn't even know how to drive a 5 speed but I knew that's what I needed and that this had to be MY car.

What started as the joyful fulfillment of a simple desire for a fun car turned into an absolute obsession and love affair.

The modification of Rumble started off slow. In 2008, I was driving 50+ miles every day and I wasn’t too eager about lessening the functionality.
I started off with upgrading my exhaust: Fully catless, Perrin up pipe, Helix 3” down pipe to a Blitz Nur-Spec. A Cobb AccessPort v2 was installed shortly after.

For the next few years my Rumble Wagon was a fun daily driver that I used for everything. It was just as at home in the mud of West Coast Subaru Show as it was on the twisty back roads near where I live. Rumble took me up and down the mountains countless times to go snowboarding, there is nothing like a Subaru in the snow. After many long road trips (Cali, Utah, Oregon, Montana, Arizona, etc.), the miles were starting to creep up and I couldn’t stand the thought of my beloved car getting worn out and eventually replaced. A more fuel efficient DD was purchased and Rumble was no longer a commuter car.

In January of 2011, I had the crazy idea to do a complete overhaul on my car which would take it to a whole new level.
I started collecting the parts while keeping almost everyone I knew in the dark about what I was doing to my car.
March 28th 2011, my project was officially started and Rumble wasn’t going to leave our garage till he was done. I was counting down the days.
EVERYTHING done to my car was by my husband and me in our garage, with the exception of the alignment (Thanks Tim @ AWD Auto!) and the tires being mounted on the wheels. Yes, even the paint.

Over the course of 51 days; like I said, I was counting, my car changed completely.

Fresh paint, fresh look and a whole new attitude.
And I love it. It may not be for everyone and it may not be super girly, but my car makes me feel all warm and tingly every time I drive it. <3

Rumble won Best Subaru 5-Door at NOS Forum Fest in June and won Best Street at West Coast Subaru Show 13 this August. Thrilled does not even begin to describe how I felt.

And I'm not done yet. With the end of one project, starts another. It's never done. Be on the look out for some more changes to Rumble in the next couple months.

I know I’ve written a novel, but I have a few more points to add:

My Subaru is the first ever to receive this suspension set up which is made by a local company. This system allows me to adjust about 1.5***8243; ride height front and rear via an air compressor located in the hatch and a few low-key switches. Although you can’t quite call it “bagged”, it’s more or less a coilover system with a small adjustable right height via compressor – perfect for clearing speed bumps while retaining maximum ride quality that a coilover offers.
For anyone who says I’ve ruined the functionality of my car by having it stanced, I can still hold my own in the twisties and have many enthusiast friends who will even vouch for that.

Though I may not have NEAR the skills or knowledge my husband does, I was there every step of the way, wrenching, sanding and helping wherever I could. I also paid for this whole project and nearly everything that’s gone into my car.
