How many miles did they drive it? It's entirely possible that the learned values for idle have been erased from having the battery disconnected, and they didn't bother to run it long enough for it to relearn how to idle.

Typically if you clear memory and it stalls, it means the throttle body is dirty and the factory brand new clean throttle body default program doesn't work, so a throttle body cleaning and idle relearn is likely in order.

When I was working in a shop, I'd idle it long enough to bring it up to temp before taking it for a ~20 mile test drive. I'd rather lose money by being overly cautious than ship a car with an air pocket in the cooling system and have to lose more time because it overheated for the customer.
