I agree with Greg. I ran 245/40R17 A6s on my WRX last year in stock trim, and being camber challenged, it was difficult to keep the tires from cording the outer edge. Fortunately, we can swap the tires front-to-rear, and then flip them on the rims in order to eek out as much tire as possible, but it's still $$$.

I know Greg uses the 285s while I use 295s. I think with the different gearing on the STi, you will want to consider the effects of the shorter tire there as well as the tread patch.
