Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to report a problem regarding the WRX Anti-lock Brake System. The Anti-lock Brake System on the WRX seems to have some issues.
I was driving to work this morning. I drive that road everyday. I was doing about 50 mph, I usually hit the brake and decelerate to 30-35mph before I go into the onramp to merge onto a highway. I hit the brake this morning, decelerated for about 1 sec, and then suddenly the braking power is gone. I am familiar with ABS, so my natural reaction was to depress the brake all the way. Nothing happen, as if the brake was not depress at all, and I drove off the ramp into the grass. I was lucky that I was not injury. ABS supposes to provide maximum braking with steering ability. This morning the braking system was not BRAKING at all. It was a situation where everything was within the limit of the tires and the car. BTW, I have snow tires on my car.

I went to my fellow subaru members in the internet, and found that this problem has been reported to Subaru of America, and yet no resolution.
I-Club members have investigated in this problem and found that braking on bumpy road sometimes will cause the ABS to react in a erratic way.

Many subaru customers are very unhappy about this. According to one member, a few WRXs have been totaled. The good news is no one has been killed yet. Some of us have agreed that if SOA does not take this matter seriously and gives their customers an acceptable response, each of us will start sending email to Consumer Reports to report the problem, and get some media attention.
Please do not take it the wrong way, many of us love Subaru products, but lives are more important!
And I think I can speak on behalf of the I-club members, we 've been waiting to hear a response from SOA in the i-club forum for a long time.
Please looking in this matter seriously. I am sure there are many volunteers that would like to demonstrate the ABS problem to a SOA representative if you find it difficult to reproduce the ABS problem.

Please take a moment to read what other subaru owners said about the ABS problem. Here are the links:
