For one...I like the 5 speed gearing. I could throw PPG gears in and have a field day with the car...but the reality is that I never launch it and I am religious about heal/toe and rev matching. So my abuse on a tranny is not as bad as most. That is just what I am building the car to handle.
Head work really comes down to how the car feels in the power band rather than making power. Since I LOVE the track...that is where it would make the difference...not the dyno. The cams...while great for power...are stupid expensive for our cars in comparison to cars that are much more expensive than ours...and I even get a great deal!
So it really comes down to how much I want to invest vs. what I gain. Port, polish and rework on the heads is not cheap (I wasn't planning on going 1 over or anything as the gains are minimal in reference to the cost)...I can gain another double digits on the whp with cams but you are talking over a grand alone on those...and I am not racing for time.
I really just wish we had a lot more e85 in Atlanta.
