Regarding this new Q nomenclature, I was thinking about why it seems so stupid to me, and I think I figured out why.

It's because the letter Q does not add any information. What Infiniti is doing is seemingly similar to what Volvo does, with one letter followed by a two digit number. But in the case of Volvo, that one letter actually means something. S for sedan/saloons, C for coupes, V for wagons, etc. Not so for Infiniti. In reality, the new Infiniti system is more like what BMW does, where the most significant digit of the number indicates the model series, and the letter X indicates that it's an SUV. Except Infiniti has the letter Q in front of all of their names, which means it doesn't mean anything. You could drop this Q from everything and you would still have no problem distinguishing the models.

Why does this bother me? I don't know. But it rubs the nerd in me in the wrong way.
