I was just thinking the same thing. I'm driving from OKC to Las Vegas right now, well...RIGHT NOW I'm in a hotel in ABQ, but you know what I mean. BTW, I've got an '05 wagon with an AP and intercooler hoses.

It's HOT, mid-90's, and driving with the economy mode with the cruise set at 74 I got almost 20mpg. I got tired of how sluggish it was so I went back to 91 octane (no super premium around) Stg 1, just to see, and barely broke 19mpg with a long stretch of that in NM with the cruise set at 84. So I decided I'd pay a little more for gas and still drive a fast car instead of neutering it for a few bucks. I hope it's just the heat and/or higher than normal highway speeds. I've also got a mountain bike on the roof rack, maybe that's part of it too. Around town running the 93 octane map I get 21 with mixed driving. My car never got higher than 24mpg (highway only driving) before the AP, and that was without a roof rack as well.

The million dollar question is if this is normal, does anybody get good milage crusing at 70+? I know I don't, and I also assume that the EPA estimates are probably for 65, if not 55. Geez, 55 is barely fast enough to use 5th!!

I'm just hoping that my car isn't a turd at just under 14K miles, it's quick, hits 14.5psi (read on the AP), at ludicris speed on a 90+ degree day running 93 octane, so something must be right.
