There were no spare wires or anything after the swap. Both of our cars just had 1 harness plug that went to each tail light and it was unplugged and plugged back in. My friend jazzy up there called me this morning when he pulled his trunk panel off to look behind the bumper and he said he saw a harness that was taped up and not really able to be moved around. He said it looked factory like that so I'm guessing that was for the high mount tail light for models with a wing? His is wingless so they would just tape it up?
I also hadn't noticed if my tag lights were working with those tail lights on before we swapped.
Any ideas other than testing for voltage?
