Howdy,

I see in two years you still haven't made the move, and I'm gonna be the one to advise against it. In fact, I'd trade locales with you in a heartbeat! I've remained in the Southeast all my life. And, I lived outside the perimeter, on the Southwest side of Atlanta, throughout the '90s. In my teens and early twenties it was great. I live in Savannah, now, and swear off Atlanta every time I go up there. Traffic is abhorrent. Also, while I'm sure you're familiar with humidity, add in our heat, and you're left with one thing. Misery.

Frankly, the only southern states that I'd recommend someone move to would be North Carolina or Tennessee. North Georgia is passable, if you can find adequate employment. If you think beach life could be your thing, there are many nice parts of Florida. However, always remember, the Atlantic coast is pretty crap compared to the Gulf coast.

Sorry to be so discouraging, but the Southeast is worlds different than the PNW.
