Thumbs up Andrewtech review

Well it has been a very long and drawn out experience for me. Blowing up your gearbox is never a good thing, especially in the Bahamas and you have to send it away for repair. After doing lots of research I had heard very good things about a company in Gaithersburg, Maryland called Andrewtech Automotive. I contacted them and explained my situation, I spoke with 2 people, Sam and Andrew. These 2 gentlemen along with Dan turned out to be some of the most helpful people that I have come across regarding Subarus. Their knowledge is vast and covers so much stuff its crazy. Anyway well I finally sent my gearbox up to them which by the way is a JDM STI ver 7 box and they found and matched up all the parts for everything to work together seamlessly. After being told that I had a 3 week wait due to a backlog in work I patiently waited (honestly I probably called them every other day and they just took it in stride, sorry Sam). I was actually refreshed to have a company be so upfront and honest and not try to beat around the bush. As promised 3 weeks passed they started work and the teardown of the gearbox. Initially they took a look and immeadiately saw that 2nd gear was completely destroyed (after 100 passes down an 1/8th mile drag track of which I also leant how to flat throttle shift I was impressed with the strength of the box it was inevitable). As I said they sourced all the parts and started the rebuild, some of the parts they had to source from Japan so I had a wait on that as well. After replacing the parts that were obviously broken Andrew decided to take 1 more look over of the gearbox. This is when he noticed that somethings did not look quite right, so he put everything under the micrometer and took a closer look at the selector fork and noticed that it was damaged as well. So more waiting as a new one had to be ordered from Japan. Finally after days of my calls to ask for updates I was told that it was done and being put on a palette and ready for shipping back to my freight fowarder in Ft Lauderdale. After I got it back to the Bahamas and through much haggling with my local customs and duties people who refused to accept the ridicously low ammount that it cost me to repair the gearbox, I finally got it back up and in. She shifts better than before and with a more reassuring feel and much more positive shifter feel. I must give it up to Andrewtech and their phenomonal service and parts guys, in particular Sam, Andrew, and Dan. Special thanks to Sam who also located for me some Samco replacement hoses for radiator and ancilory hose kit that actually fit my car (being as it is a JDM its hard to find parts in the US that fit perfectly). I highly recomend these guys!
