NP! Well..first and foremost, having proper body positioning is more important than how far your knee is stuck out, cause once you have your positioning right, your knee will naturally drag itself. The first mistake for track noobs is to concentrate too much on dragging knee, I know, I've been there! During racer training, I lowsided twice trying too hard to scrape knee instead of concentrating on positioning and where to look. Its hard to tell you what to do, since I dunno what you know so far. A really good point I picked up is to lead with your knee, shoulder and chin. They should line up when your hanging off the bike.

Also the "look where you wanna go" becomes an absolute must! For instance, right before entering your turn, look at the apex , once in your turn look at the exit, and once hitting apex, you should be looking down the straight, or next curve, etc.
