Each person will have their own tuning strategies, and thus each tune will be a little unique to its tuner. If you are using Cobb, check to see what their rating is on Cobb's website and if you already know and trust the crew, then go for it! I've had tunes from about 6 different places (a few that were very highly rated, I hated dealing with) and others were a pleasure. This is no black magic, its just a little math and adjusting that math via realtime on the dyno or flashing via road tuning based on the readings from either. If they know their math and can read the tunes, next is how aggressive are they and how much time they dedicate to the tune.

Worst Dyno tune I had lasted like 1 hour on the dyno.. was that even time to get a base map from.. anyway they should put forth some effort to making your tune safe and reliable (chasing numbers is secondary!) and also should listen to suggestions on how you wish to drive / use your vehicle, temperatures and fuels available.
