Bull. It would make sense to reduce 2.0l Crosstrek for more profitable 2.5l Crosstrek than to cut more profitable 2.5l Forester. And Forester's inventory is HALF of Crosstrek for a car that sells more and was selling like hot cakes until it hit the wall of no inventory.

What world does that make sense? The world where the Crosstrek is their fastest selling model(first model to XX number of sales) and they are riding that train hard. Soo hard, they put a more coal in the boiler with the 2.5 engine and now want to push that.........until they can get production back to "normal" and pump out more Foresters again. They just spent whatever amount of money introducing this car. Seems to make sense to push it and get that money back.
Right now, today, Forester is Subaru's fastest selling model. It is also Subaru's highest volume model, It is also more profitable than Crosstrek. They didn't spend any real money introducing the 2.5l. Your narrative is wrong.
