According to many searches, you need 3 things for startup:
spark
fuel
compression
Pull a plug wire, lay it on the intake manifold, and crank. Does it spark?
When you turn the ignition to on (not start) can you hear the fuel pump prime itself?
You can pull the inspection cover for the timing belt (under the AC compressor) and see if it's intact. You can confirm timing this way, but it makes sure that the belt isn't dead.
As for your clutch pedal, pop the hood and look for a leak. Trace the line from the master clutch cylinder (towards the passenger side of the brake booster) to the slave cylinder (bolted to the transmission). Have someone push the clutch when observing the clutch slave cylinder, does it move?
Another question, does the engine even spin when you clutch-in and start? Without more details, it almost sounds like the clutch fork may be stuck. Can you move the shifter with any sort of effort without even touching the clutch pedal?
