Hi Cata, the power of the UTEC is your ability to completely control boost, fueling and timing. Above the throttle cross-over setpoint, the UTEC takes control from the stock ECU and allows you to make more power by increasing boost pressure and/or leaning fuel mixture and/or increasing timing advance. The stock ECU continues to control the mundane tasks of startup and closed loop fuel control.

It's possible to extract about 30hp more from a stock car. Once you start to modify the car with free-flowing exhaust and/or bigger turbo etc. you really need a way to tune the car to extract the maximum benefit from your upgrades. For example with just a 3" exhaust and up-pipe, the UTEC would allow you to get around 280hp.

The TurboXS website has staged maps that you can download and install on the UTEC to match your modifications, from none to wild. To extract maximum benefit, you would still need to tune these maps further because they are set up to run very rich to begin with. You can get lots of help here on NASIOC in the engine management forum while learning to tune, or you could have someone like Patrick Richard in Squamish tune it for you.

Hope this answers your Q's... let me know.

Steve.
