Do a search for "poruki" or Wayne Seivers. He's got a SOHC EJ25 in a 69 912 with Webers on it. That's what I would do in this car.

I would also personally use a 914 transmission over the Subaru tranny. I don't know why they are getting so popular. They weigh a whole lot more than the 914 mag-case gearbox and aren't all that much stronger. The engine I am suggesting above doesn't put out a whole lot more power than a 2.2l S spec 911 engine. It's not going to strain a 914 gearbox in the least and they are a dime a dozen. You can find decent used ones for less than the cost of the Bremer components, and that's not even taking into account the CV axle pieces you'll need that aren't listed on Bremer's site.
