Not sure who you are talking to, or about what particular bit of this thread-
but it is commonly reported that the gates belt simply isn't long enough to slip over the pulleys even with the alternator loosened all the way and pushed down to be banging against it's bracket. Some additional 'convicing' is needed, or the purchase of the OEM belt... or a longer gates belt.
