Hmm.... maybe scrap the CD changer idea for a different digital media player? Looking around for alternatives to Kenwood's Keg unit (since it requires a Kenwood head) I found the OmniFi DMP1. Has a control set that fits in a DIN space and a remote hard drive enclosure. Apparently you can update tracks in it by parking near a (your) wireless network and sending data across. Since you then don't need to be able to remove any parts (like when changing disc magazines) it could be mounted somewhere that isn't immediately accessible. Pretty cool idea, OmniFi is a division of Rockford Fosgate. Here's a review from Crutchfield - http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/IS...fi_review.html

In the past I couldn't be sold on hard disk units due to having to move the drive back and forth, plus I already had MP3s collected on CDs for a portable player. With this wireless option, well... the geek bar has just been raised!
