When I swapped the Recaro SE seat from my '97 Legacy into the '96 Impreza, I found that the seatbelt latches were the same. (I think maybe Subaru changed them in '98?) Then I remembered that I have a complete set of new seatbelts to go into the Legacy, so I could use the old seatbelt latches in the Impreza. When I looked at them, though, I decided that they were starting to fade a bit, too. If I was going to replace them, might as well do it right! So I bought a can of Rustoleum "satin poppy red" paint to shoot the Legacy latch buttons with. (The Impreza ones weren't just sun-bleached, they were actually worn down by use, so I used the Legacy buttons.) The latches come apart pretty easily so you can pull the buttons out.

Old, paint-pen-painted Impreza latch on the right, "new" Rustoleum-painted Legacy button on the right:

I think the Rustoleum color is a pretty damn good match for what the latches are supposed to be. I did consider doing another color - yellow? blue? green? - but elected to stick with red. We'll see how well the paint holds up to the metal latch hitting it over and over.
