Yes, but you missed the key point, the "sound" gets LOUDER but does not change frequency, this rules out tires (rock in the tread, bad tread, etc.), axles & driveshaft, brake backing plates (getting hit by a rotor), etc.

Thus it's a speed issue, likely ruling out engine, trans, axles, tires, etc.

That's why I'm leaning to a shield/cover, fender liner, maybe even trim on the outside.
