Biggest issue I see with it being basically a BMW is now it will have BMW long term reliability and maintenance costs which are not in line with the last generation Supra where both were basically like any other Toyota.

The only other thing I will add is that Toyota’s of old were hopelessly over engineered so that you could pull enormous power out of them with minimal modification and they still be reliable. BMWs are good for about 20% over stock before you have reliability issues in the remaining stock parts. Just doesn’t live up to the first (Toyota) or last (Supra) names on the name plate basing it on traditional BMW build quality.
