It was always a law. But last year they actually introduced the tint meter into the inspection process. Every year you have to get inspected. You either have to find a guy or take the tint off, get inspected and reinstall after. 70% is pretty much what comes from the factory so anything darker will fail. Ive had tinted windows my whole life and had to remove the front last year.
