Ride comfort is probably the minor drawback here.

Short-sidewall tires are more likely to experience 'pinch flats', where the sidewall gets pinched between the wheel and something like the far edge of a pothole. Plus there'd be an increased risk of damaging a rim. You might be able to mitigate that to some extent with increased inflation pressures, though that would tend to make the car ride harder and lead to uneven tire wear.

I realize that the current STi runs 245/35's, but at least they're in 19" which gives them slightly greater load capacity and vertical tire stiffness at any given inflation pressure.
