I'm not sure it was particularly effective, but I just sliced a hockey puck in half (to make it thinner, not to make 2 half-moons), and stuck 1/2 of it under the center console of my '96 Impreza. The console rocks back and forth more than I'd like, and the way the 3 screws that hold it in place are positioned you can't really do anything with those to try and hold it in place better. I put the 1/2 puck at the rear of the console, under the storage well, so that it'll (hopefully) provide a better base for the console.

I really pulled the console out to try to adjust the parking brake, but there's not an adjustment at the handle like there is on my Legacy. Since that plan failed, I moved on to another idea.
