Cool 2015+ Grimmspeed intercooler and charge pipe

[Mods, I posted nearly the same in another subforum as well, so delete or move as you like.]

Had the chance to install the Grimmspeed 2015+ intercooler and charge pipe this weekend, and thought I'd share some brief comments in case they're helpful for anyone considering this mod.

[I'm in the middle of e-tuning, so take the results with a grain of salt.]

First, the results. On prior datalogs with the stock intercooler at the end of a 3rd gear WOT pull my intake manifold temps were about 35-40F above intake air temps. For example, on one prior run the intake air temp was 77F and the intake manifold temp was 117F. On another, the intake air temp was 77F and the intake manifold temp was 115F.

With the GS intercooler and charge pipe my intake manifold temps were 25F above ambient. I've only done one log so far, so data is limited. On the run with the GS intake and charge pipe, at the end of a 3rd gear WOT pull the intake air temp was 90F and the intake manifold temp was 115F.

So, very roughly speaking, the GS intercooler cuts down charge temps by 37% based on very limited data. I know this is a 30,000 foot view, and doesn't scratch the surface of all boost recovery, boost pressure, etc. but figured I'd provide the data nonetheless. Keep in mind that GS states on their website not to rely on temp drop alone: "Simply stating a temperature drop in degrees isn't sufficient."

The install is straightforward. Taking the stock charge pipe off is a little tedious, and getting the GS charge pipe in all its pieces fitted takes some time and patience. But overall everything seems to fit well.

If you're ever thinking of upgrading to a larger radiator, though, keep in mind that the charge pipe sits very close to the OEM passenger side fan, like 1/2 inch close even after multiple adjustments.

And watch that clutch slave cylinder that likes to bend some fins on the bottom of the intercooler
