The larger heavier wheels and tires are at play here. They, for multiple reasons, cannot track the fine road detail accurately... their circumference too large for some and their weight too unweildy for others. A set of much lighter wheels, and lighter tires, would enhance wheel control over all surfaces. Add a set of quality coilovers to erase all your concern here.

I accept Subaru's solution. It works well... in comparison to a $7-9K "better/best" one.
