The Z140 should fit. The only issue might be the depth. At least for the size of the OEM radio and dash opening, STI is same as WRX.

1993-2007 models can take a standard double-DIN size HU. No dash kit needed -- you'll re-use your factory metal radio brackets, and the factory bezel/fascia has the correct-sized opening.

BTW, on recent Pioneer AVICs (Z130, X930, Z140, X940), if you do the bypass hack, you do not need to ground the parking brake lead. Just insulate the end of the HU's brake wire. Also, I have wires with the proper pins to fit the AVIC's RCA harness (so you won't have to extract the mute pin/wire to transplant that).
