The MPG drop will be insignificant between the two and I also doubt you'll get 50k out of either set of tires unless you drive like grandma (which from your post, you don't). Example: I got 40k miles out of my '17's OEMs and I drive conservative to spiritedly (mostly off/on ramps). I'm 50 and don't hoon... so...

And between those tires, there *will* be a big difference in snow grip, with more going to the Turanza over the Potenzas. So, pick your poison.

I just replaced my tires with the Vredestein Quadrac Pros (same category as the Turanzas), so I get where you're coming from as I could have gone the same way, but we get more snow here in Southern New England than you'll see and went with the better snow performance over the dry.

Also, in the colder weather (a majority of the winter is under freezing), I'll take the Vred's over the Potenzas any day of the week, as their compound is more suited to cold.
