I have been doing a lot of research on aftermarket seats and the airbag light issue over the past few days (just got a 2020 wrx and looking for more legroom/headroom)

Your problem is a little different, but the fix for seats with NO airbag is to add a resistor. It seems like what most people use is 3.3 ohms on the middle two pins of the plug. I guess you could test the resistance of the middle two pins of both seats? Theoretically your original seat that doesn't throw the light would be somewhere around 3.3 ohms, and if the new seat is significantly different that would at least explain it. Doesn't make sense though since both seats are 2015+
