Default resistor on ecu board?

i pulled my ecu board on my 02 wrx because i was having some proplems and found a burnt resistor.

Problems: i went out to datalog since i just got a new map from my tuner (stock image but scaled to new sti pink injectors) and as i started the log, about 3200rpm and <10 pounds of boost the car started bucking and hesitating real bad and all of a sudden my temp gauge pegged hot, oil light came on, fuel gauge went to zero and gas light came on (but had a full tank), the car died and the caution/hazard lights didnt work.

ive checked all of the fuses and they all check out fine, the car just had an engine swap with a new 2.0L but we didnt touch the wireing at all, all the grounds were just how they were before we pulled the engine.

so if anyone knows that the resistor T849 on the stock ecu board is or what it is used for it will be greatly appricaited.

i know im probably going to have to replace the ecu but i want to prevent the new one from frying too.

If you are going to replace it I would try replacing the part that is burnt out. It may save you a lot of money.

The ecu does not control the temp gauge, fuel level, fuel low light, oil pressure light, so it is likely the ECU issue is the result of an electrical issue with your car, not the cause.

Not that it matters or anything, but that looks like a transistor, not a resistor. The "T"849 would also seem to confirm this. That might make it a little more difficult to find a replacement component if you tried to repair the ECU like someone above suggested. Although, if you could find any writing on the one to the right of the blown one, someone could maybe look it up and find a replacement for you. If that's the only problem with the ECU, I'd try to repair it myself first, you will only be out the cost of the transistor if it doesn't work, and if it does you won't have to buy a whole new ECU.

yes i think your right, i just guessed that it was a resistor since i dont know to much about electrical boards.

the numbers/letters i get off of the other transistor are "GA" then under that it is "1Y"... that transistor is number T847 "the good one to the right of the blown one in the pic"

ill look around and see what i can dig up about the board. not to many people seem to know what the exact things on the board are used for but ill keep looking.
