Default Eagle GT's?

ive read the "best tire" thread, or w/e you want to call it but i was curious about a tire that just came out recently from goodyear. The Eagle GT.

its an all season tire, but looks as though it would grip very well. its almost a mix of the BFG KD's or w/e theyre called(almost look like mudding tires) and the goodyear Eagle Responce edge. (no im not talking about the GT-HR's or the GT-2's)

I was wondering if anyone has these on their subaru, or any car they own at that. I'll be needing tires in the next month or two and im just trying to do some research on tires that will fit me best. I like the pontenzas that came on my car, but im looking for better. they handle pretty well in wet weather, but i know i can find some that handle better.

i live in austin texas, so its mostly just wet and dry driving here. no snow or any of that crap......but if it does snow, i just stay home :P

any input on the eagle GT's?

oh, and can i have wider tires in the rear without screwin up the awd? i know the same height is a must, so im fairly sure that width may not matter as long as theyre the same height.

goodyears usually have pretty good reviews from customers.. i'm on the response edge right now, so i can't comment on the gts

you must have the same size on all corners

OK buy Nates beans

OK...I'll say this

The ONLY tire that goodyear has made that has really been worth a **** is the gs d3

If somebody GIVES me a set of those, I'll run them

I'd just stay away from Goodyear tires and be happier for it

DO NOT go by what a tire LOOKS like

There are MANY PROVEN tires out there to choose from---Pick one of those

well - i said "screw it" and put the tires on the same day i posted this (ive been busy at work past couple days) i will say i wasnt expecting much from these tires being im not very fond of goodyears - but we had them at the shop, so i figured id be a test-rat of sorts.

theyre very stiff tires, and were not too difficult to mount - but i was sitting on one and it did not give much(im a good 230-240lbs..yuck) i actually double checked to see if they were run-flats. immidiately after mounting them i went on a test-drive down the street, and around a church parkinglot nearby.

Theyre pretty quiet for how noisy they appear they may be. The only time i can really kinda hear them is at 80mph or higher, and thats with all windows down.
As far as the comfort of the "ride", it was fairly comfortable. Not too stiff, but not soft either. just right(IMO).

Dry traction: Hell yes. with the bridgestones that came on it, i had no trouble breaking loose on a launch, or slightly drifting through a turn. when i got to the church down the street i tried breaking them loose, but just couldnt. granted i only got upto about 40mph in the parking lot - but still. Ive only gotten them to break loose twice. both times they were cold.

i dont know about wet traction yet cause it really has not rained enough to "test" them out. im hoping the results are as good as the others were.

oh, and for who'm ever cares - i put 225/45/17's all around.
i will say i was very suprised by these tires - theyre fairly in-expensive(after taxes a what-not i paid a little under $120 per tire), and provide a good ride. ill give them...........a 4..

I've got these tires on my WRX. I generally run Kumho's, but the guy recommended I try the Eagle GT's out. I got them when I bought the car back in September, when it was still pretty warm and dry. Performance is pretty good in those conditions. It's been pretty wet and cold in Chicago lately (mid 40's), and I've had no problems with them yet. I've definitely tried some aggressive backroad maneuvers, and unless you really push them (when warmed) they stick pretty well for an all-season tire.
