Angry open source help

i am currently trying to connect my ecu to open source tuning. i am new to the scene but seems pretty straight forward, i thought. i tried romraider ecuexplorer and ecu flash on vista with tactrix 2.0 and evoscan 1.3, none like my ecu. rr says car def not found. with latest download, ecuexplorer doesnt bring up my ecu id #. and ecu flash not sure if i should connect test mode connectors or not. my03 edm wrx has vortec tbe and catless uppipe and air filter. please help! my next shot will be with xp and 7. ????

u must A)see download the latest ecu definitions for RR and then ECU flash since theyre different. B) u must connect the test mode connectors.

Read......the.............FAQ's. Both here and the complete one on Romraider. 90% of the problem comes from people not reading the FAQ's before hand and just jumping into it. Ecuflash is the program that actually reflashes the ECU. Romraider is just an editor/logger.

Check out the forums at RomRaider. Did you set your definitions directory for ecuflash and romraider? The defaults do not point to them. If you have win7 you have to set the properties for each shortcut to run as administrator. How to do all this is explained in the RomRaider forums. For '03 to just read and datalog I don't remember having to plug test connectors. Only when flashing do you need the flash plug AND the test connectors plugged together. The forums over there are extremely helpful and user friendly so don't be afraid to ask.
