Power steering problems! Help!
I need some help with my car's power steering! While driving it feels like I loose all power steering, then regain it. Sometimes it's fine turning to one side but not so much on the other. I have parts of lines upgraded to stainless steel brake lines.
There are no air bubbles in line, good flow, no leaks as well. Any ideas on the next step? What to check? |

You have parts of your power steering system upgraded to stainless steel brake lines?
It could be the pump, could be a belt in need of adjustment, could be a bad rack, could be bad fluid. What to check? The entire system..... |

I've checked all lines from pump to rack, there where no leaks. I believe there is good flow from the pump. In dis belief I checked the belt, it seemed to have minor to no play. I tightened it just a bit to eliminate any kind of play there could be. Drove it for 15 minutes with no problems, tomorrow the drive to work and back will show if it was the true problem or not. Kudos to the input on the belt! Will update tomorrow |

Belt check is easiest and cheapest. Doesn't matter if it's new only if it's tight. Are you sure there's no air in system? Have you checked it or taken shops word for it. They did the work, maybe ask them to double check it. What fluid did they use?

I had a hard time thinking my steering rack would randomly go up, also heard 04 have one of the strongest steering racks. Once getting home I re checked everything they had done to ensure. Even took the top off the tank and spun the wheel to let out any air. After following all lines to the steering rack, not seeing anything out of the normal. I had decided to do what you suggested! After you mentioned the belt I did remember I pulled the Alt off to install my oil pressure sensor about a week ago, I guess i didnt torque it enough! |
