Default Oil change question

I am planning on changing the oil on my 2003 WRX wagon. I am on my way to the store to get the oil and filter and realized that I don't know what size and type of washer I need for the oil drain plug.

Does anyone know what the size and type required is???

I don't know the dimensions, but I know it'd be hard to find a similar crush washer anywhere other than at your local subaru dealer.... I think they are $0.75 or $0.50 apiece. You can't go wrong at the dealer service desk.

besides, I don't change off the washer EVERY oil change.. I let it go 3 or 4 times. No leaks no problems.

I've never had a washer on mine and it's got 33k miles on it and 9 oil changes. Still as good as the first day I got it. Never needed to add any oil, nor has it leaked.

For me, it's definitely worth < $1.00 / 3 months for the peace of mind associated with changing the washer each time.

The crush washer helps ensure you don't ruin the threads on the pan by over tightening. It also helps keep the bolt from loosening between oil changes. Since the washer is "crushed" (hence the name) when you tighten the bolt, you're supposed to replace it at every oil change. If you use the same washer over and over again, it's not doing it's job.
