I used a similar device called the battery buddy on my last car 4 years ago... before die-hard was using the technology... saved my butt a couple times (crappy battery/charging system + loud stereo = dead battery... oops)
BUT.. it also caused me more headaches that it was worth when it was cold out...would cut the power from the battery when i hit the starter because it thought the battery was going dead... finally took it off because i replaced the stock battery with an optima and the model i had was specifically for NON deep-cycle batteries.. supposedly it would drain a deep-cycle battery.

I've had Priority Start on my Corrado for a year now and love it. I've fixed the electrical gremlins but its still nice to have, esspecially with how VWs don't have buzzers or auto shut offs for the lights.
