Default Warm Ups Neccessary?

Ok, since my rebuilt engine on my 2000 RS-T, ive been warming up my car to operating temp. before even driving it. basically, before i go to work, or n e where else, i start it up, and just let the turbo timer take over and idle for about 3-4 minutes or so before driving. i was wondering if this is a good idea, or what?
Should i not even bother warming it up?
