Default BBS Goes Bust!

http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/n...1854_14055.hbs

Report is in German, but basically BBS was paying out the ass with lots of high aluminum prices and then one of their main supporters bailed out, they had to file for bankruptcy.

What's Subaru going to do with the STI rims now? Probably maybe Enkeis or something?

You're right, they'll prolly go with Enkei wheels (which are the stockers I currently have).

Yeah, Enkei seems like the next one in line...they supply a few manufacturers already, which leads me to believe that they're fairly inexpensive but good quality (not as good as BBS, though).

I figured either Rays or Enkeis, but Enkei right now seems more likely than the other.

The Enkeis are already being supplied with the STI limiteds and AUS WRXs. It only makes sense Subaru will stick with those.

BTW, bankrupcy is not the same as going out of business but can be a precursor.

It most likely probably will be, though.

Aluminum prices are through the roof, and probably will stay that way. I'd imagine more than one company will have troubles.

I've got the Enkei stamp on the inside of my '06 TR's wheels.

That's right. I now have a set of Enkeis (stockers) and BBS (my beloved RGRs). I really need to find s set of 04 STI BBS quickly before they are impossible to find.

BBS has a strong reputation, I bet you someone will buy the company and everything will be fine.

My '91 alloys have the Enkei logo on them as well.

They seem to make tons of OEM rims for various companies.

Default STI Wheels

The JDM STI's have been getting converted to ENKEI over the past year anyway, and they always used Rays in the past, so maybe they knew about this a while back. The USDM STI LTD rims are the V9 Spec C rims (only in Gold) in Japan... Sounds like BBS is struggling for not changing with the times, there are a ton of rim companies, but BBS hasn't changed thier style in years, so they probably just fell off. Plus RAYS just got into F1 so that doesn't bode well for them either...

Well, that's not good. Hopefully they switch to another quality brand... Enkei is so "meh." I mean I know they make the Evo rims but BBS is so much better.

I just noticed an ad in one of my club magazines from another marque (Porsche) today who was saying they were proud to be named a BBS dealer. Ironic.

SOA decided some time ago to make the BBS rims an option, and not standard equipment, for the 2008 STI.
