Default June Top Scoob Entry Thread

All entries must be submitted to this thread no later than Saturday, May 5th!

Alright guys, it's time to kick this off with the first round, the entries.

If you need a reminder here's what you need to know to enter your Scoob.

The basics…

It’s easy to enter your car, all you need is a Subaru, a camera, a place to host pictures, and the ability to type a coherent sentence or two…

The requirements, as in you MUST HAVE the following to be considered.

1 picture of the exterior
1 picture of the interior
1 picture of the engine bay

2 “optional” pics (you don’t need them but include them if you want)

A written description of your ride, the more detailed the better. We’re talking about more than just a mod list, we want you to share the story behind your Scoob. Tell us why and how you bought it, what inspires you to modify it, and what all you’ve done to it and why. Most important is to tell us what you do with your car...race, show, cruise, polish with a diaper, whatever. Think of it as your own magazine feature, the better you sell your car to the masses the better the chances of your Subaru becoming a Top Scoob.

How it’s going to work…

This is a monthly contest, open to all members that own a Subaru.

You must be the current owner of the car, no third party entries allowed.

Entries can be submitted to a specified thread during the first week of each month.

Ten cars from the entries meeting the requirements above will be selected to compete in an open poll. The pole will be open for the second week of the month, after which the bottom four cars will be knocked out.

The remaining six cars will compete again in a new poll during the third week. At the end the bottom four cars will again be knocked out.

The final two cars will go head to head in a final poll to select who has the Top Scoob.

The winner will get their own thread stickied at the top of the Gallery for the next month.
Remember for your car to be considered you MUST meet the requirements.

Let's try and limit the posting in this thread to only those people who are entering. Save your kudos and cheer leading for when the voting starts.

First off,I bought my subaru back in 2002 with 2 miles on it.I traded in my 98 Prelude because I liked the turbo and awd. I really never planned on modifying it all.I was basically done with that scene. Then I came across Nabisco...and that's all she wrote.
I tried to base my car after the V7 Sti bugeye as best I could with what money I have to spare.I always loved the Bugeye Sti,but since it never made it to the US,I had to get a close approximation...at least in looks. I dont have the cash for the motor transplants and all that jazz
I'm not a slammed car show junkie or supa dupa race car driver nor sponsored by 15 companies.I just wanted a clean(to me at least) daily driver.
Yes,I drive it to work everyday and its been a great car and after I drive it into submission,I'm sure I'll buy another Subaru.
So basically I just have a decent looking subaru imho and I hope I can get a few votes.I dont think I have all the parts and ultra leet jdm stuff to win,but a vote or two would be nice. Yes its not the fastest or none of that..but I've never cared about that..Just a nice,comfortable daily driver..

Here is MY06 WRX. When I first moved to Lafayette I had a very clean 2000 Civic SI. I remember when I drove up to my apartment complex here in Lafayette there was a guy out here that was washing his 2005 STi. I was thinking to myself cool, another car guru living here and we can both do mods and all. Well, we both began to enter our cars together in car shows. It was a lot of fun and all but, I just loved how my buddies mods were looking on his car more than mine and most importantly, the power his car had over mine. Well, one day we were outside just messing with our cars and I asked him if he had his digital camera. He asked me are you going to sell your car? I said, yes we’ll see how if it sells.

As it was for sale I started to look for a WRX at many dealers all over Texas, Louisiana and Alabama. I finally found one exactly the way I wanted it , color and all in Covington, LA. The guy that bought my Si was in New Orleans, LA. So, on my day off title in hand I drove to New Orleans to drop off my car to the new owner. I asked him for a ride to Covington and he even let me drive to Covington in my Si. We got to the Subaru dealership, exchanged the cash and title for the Si, shook hands and he was on his way in the Si. I was sitting car less in this Subaru dealership trying to work a deal. I got the deal I wanted put the down payment and drove off in my new WRX with 17 miles on it. This WRX is the very first brand new car I have ever owned….I usually buy used cars. But, I played a trick on my friend Mark here with the STi. I told him I did not get the car and I had to rent a car to drive back to Lafayette. I asked him to pick me up at the rental car drop off at the airport and I would call him once I got there to start heading that way.

I pulled up at Marks garage and called him to come get me….he sounded so disappointed. He said I will be there in a bit. I sat outside of his garage, Mark and his girlfriend came walking around the corner and seen me sitting up against MY06 WRX…..if you could have seen the expression on his face, IT WAS PRICELESS! He was excited that now I had a Subaru to mod. I hope this story didn’t sound to gay, cause we are not. My Scooby has seen auto-x and quarter mile track. But, now I just take care of it and just love this car and how much fun it is to drive. I have a 1998 Civic that is my daily driver and my WRX has 4936 miles to date. I don’t drive it in the rain or dirt. I like to show it and just take care of it. I have put a little more than 7K in mods on it now. Every mod I have tried to keep it looking as factory as possible. I want people to think I bought the car like this from Subaru. I know my car is nothing special but, it is modded very clean and that’s what I wanted. Also, all gauges and the DVD/NAV all are backlit in green so everything matches the factory color. All wires are loomed and zip tied so everything looks like it was done from the factory. I just payed very close attention to detail and a number of hours adding these mods to the car. This car is my pride and joy and I have got a lot of complements on it. I am not a professional photographer so I am sorry about not such great pics, I will try and get some better ones up soon. So, everyone please vote for my car cause it is the cleanest…HA!

Figured I would give this a shot. BTW, nice cars in here. So I picked up my 05 CGM STi from Big Valley in Van Nuys, CA on 4/9/07. Before that I had been into the show scene for about seven years with my '95 Civic (settle down now ). I decided to take a different angle with this car and actually use it. My buddy has an Evo RS that he tracks quite often so I have been trying to get out and do the same as much as possible. I purchased my 2006 STi in August 06 at a Chrysler dealership. At the time I was driving a 04 Dodge Stratus R/T. I had no problems with that car other that it was a slow dog. I always had this "thing" for a STi but never thought I could get one brand new (They retail for $34k ish).

I was driving down ST Rd. 60 heading home. For some reason I felt I should take a small drive around town before I went home. To my surprise I find this STi sitting right out-front of the used car lot at Courtesy Chrysler. There it sat in all its glory, begging for somebody to come and get it, as if it was calling my name (lol). To make a long story short from here, I simply did a u-turn and went in to "inquire" about the car. Test drove it, fell in love with it. 2hrs later I was just about ready to drive home with it. Only one problem. They wanted $32k for it w/ 7k miles on it. I simply could not see paying near brand new price for a pre owned car. Much less, one that could have been spiritedly driven. I asked for them to lower the price down to $29k. For the price they wanted, I would have gone to Mastro Subaru and got it brand new. Keep in mind that I was already approved and good to go, which was exciting to begin with. I left the dealership dissapointed (it was Friday) since they wouldn’t budge.

On Saturday morning I get a call from the dealer telling me to come back in. They were willing to entertain the offer. I got the STi for $29k and they gave me $13k for my trade. It was a great deal. My downfall however was the knowledge of what the car had gone through from the previous owner. Apparently, the previous owner had done some mods on it and basically bitched it up. The dealer sold me a car w/o a cat on it. It had an HKS Downpipe with stock cat back and a welded straight pipe in replacement of the cat. 7 vacuum lines were missing (car was running 7psi) I had the slightest clue about the car's mechanics and I had to force-feed myself to learn this car quickly.

It took me a month to get the car running normal again. Today, the car is pushing 327whp/355wtq and it’s well taken cared of.

I'm part of a local car team here in
Tampa, TeamSSP. I show the car as much as I can. The long term goal for this car is to convert it into a WRC replica clone. Yes, it will take a lot of time and money to do this project, but it will be well worth it in the future.

Hey guys, heres my entry.

About a year ago, after dreaming of one day owning one, I bought myself a 2003 Subaru WRX. Right from the beginning, I caught the mod-bug. Within a couple weeks, I had already started to build it up.

I started out with choosing the Cobb AccessPort for my engine management system. I ran stage 1 maps for not even a month and decided I still needed more power. Using the boards, I ended up finding some awesome deals on a Stromung Short Downpipe with Hi-Flow Cat, flowing to a Stromung Race Pipe exiting a Borla Hush catback exhaust. I also decided to free up some more air and purchased a Helix Uppipe.

Next on the list was a new intercooler. After reading about my options for the future of my ride, I decided on going with a new Top Mount from CXRacing. I paired the new intercooler with a Perrin Intercooler Hose Kit, and will be running a ProTuned map from TDCTuning.

Not only is the car much faster and putting down better numbers, 225 horses and 230 ft-lb of torque at the wheel, but the car looks and sounds good doing it.

I purchased a STi Ver 2 front lip, which last a year (RIP) and will be throwing on my new Prodrive front lip which I just receieved today. I also tinted the taillights, sidemarkers and eyelids, and threw on the STi mesh fog light covers, and tined licence plate covers. At the moment, I'm looking to trade for some 04/05 tails.

Inside, the music is pumping from a Alpine Deck, soon to be an Alpine IVA-W200, to 6.5" Alpine Type S in the front, and 5.25" Alpine Type S in the rear. An Alpine V-12 Mono Amp pushed two Alpine Type R 10" Subs.

I've also added some AutoMeter Gauges to moniter Boost, Oil Temp and Oil Pressure, as well as a cluster from a 2004 WRX to set the interior apart from the rest.

My future plans are to drop in a larger turbo, a Super 16g flowing at 575 cfms, Deatchwerks 650 injectors, and a Walboro GSS342 fuel pump. I'm also looking at purchasing a set of EDM Headlights, and the JDM STi Hoodscoop with Air Splitter.

My next mods will be on my suspension. Looking at a set of Tein Flex with EDFC, or KYB AGX struts with Prodrive springs, to complement the new rims I'm hoping to pick up as well, 18" Rota Tarmacs in Steel Grey. Thats right, one of the only bugeyes, or any WRX for that matter, still rocking the stock rims.

Now for some pictures, these were when I still had my Ver 2 lip on, which is getting replace once I paint my Prodrive lip.

Well i guess i will enter even though i don't have any decent pics right now.
i bought the car early 2004 used with 5,000 miles. almost instantly I started moding the car with a few little things turbo-back exhaust front strut bar amd a few other things. this car has been my daily driver since i bought it and still is though it does see plent of track time and gets shown from time to time. i am currently in the process of doing a custom reversed manifold set up. I am also currently adding a coolmist meth injection kit, BDL fuel rails, BDL throttle body spacer, PnP intake manifold and TGV's, KU engineering throttle body bride seats and S&W roll bar.

Mannnn...that was alot of $#!*...Ive been around Subarus since '94.I use to own a 93 Impreza L then a 1998 RS.So i've been around for a minute.I bought my WRX wayyy back in March of 2001.I really wanted a WRB but someone already had like 5K down on it.So i was like...DAYYYYUMM!!... ill take the burgundy one.It was for the best since everybody else went for the WRB.Plus u dont get to see too many SRP bugeyes flying around..I was one of the first ones in Central Florida with a WRX...

For 2 years i only ran the car with a Blitz catback exhaust,TurboSmart BOV ,Apexi 60mm boost gauge and an Injen CAI.Fellas i thought i was done but i was wrong.Mann...Its been 6 years already "WOW"..

I usually show the car at the local events and all.Im part of the TeamSolo crew.Im not sure YET on my ultimate goal for my scooby.I was planning on joining SCCA and throw my car around a little.We'll see.....Okay fellas,thnxx for reading my short little story..I would like to thanxx Urbanracer.com and Carandmodel.com for the awsome pics.........

Speed in a straight line or in the twisties? Why not have both? I bought my STi back in 2004 from Annapolis Subaru to do just this.
