Default bg5 auto tranny drain plug leaking?

took the legacy in to independent mechanic to get the oil changed (no i'm not lazy.... just tired of doing it out on the street since i have no garage ) and noticed that the bottom of the transmission pan is sticky with tranny fluid. it's not coming out of the gasket, but seems to be weeping from the drain plug. the mechanic says he's seen this before but didn't speculate. is this common? i'm not seeing any loss on the dipstick...
