Default 18x7.5 ET42 wheels on stock suspension vs. lowered

There is a set of Enkei's that I really like but they only come in 18x7.5 ET42 fitment. I've read the Offset Info thread and searched through other posts/threads but I am still unclear on some things and hope that some of you guys can help me out.

I am currently on stock WRX suspension; will probably add Tanabe GF210 lowering springs or something similar soon (i.e., 1.3"/1" drop). In giving your advice, please consider both stock and lowered stance.

I realize that ET42 is low for Subaru, but given that I'll be running either 215/40 or 225/40 tire, will this still result in rubbing problems on stock height? Will I experience rubbing once lowered?

Can someone please explain (in detail) the negative effects of low offset, ET42 specifically, on the wheel hubs and other critical components? If possible, please "guesstimate" by how much I am lowering the lifespan of wheel hubs and other components that may be affected by low offset.
