1988 Chevy Nova (rebadged toyota corolla). 84 HP on a 5 speed. 0-60 took like 15 seconds, or something god awful. I had restored this car from the hole it was sinking itself into for 5 years. It's idle was set high because it was sooo cold natured. I had to slip the clutch in the mornings real bad to get it moving. Manual steering, no A/C, manual windows that were hard to turn. I LOVED the hatch though and miss it dearly. The best part of this car, I average 40-42 MPG on it. That's a only a bit worse than my motorcycle. Died due the engine blowing after more than a quarter million miles. I could damn near could do a U-turn on a 2 lane road barely using the shoulders. The maneuverability of this car was amazing.

Pick isn't of my car. Mine was tomato soup red.

The crappiest car I ever owned? It's a tie between my old 300ZX and my current WRX.

My old Galant the wussiest car I of all that I've owned, but it was easily the most rugged and reliable.

had a 2001 silver grand am gt 2 door prior to owning my 2005 wrx. parents actually got it for me as they didnt want my destroying their new car at the time somehow. was pretty good to me aside from the notorious 3x00 series GM motor lower intake manifold leak, power steering pump, odd slipping trans, poor mpg.........

had a bunch of stuff done to it as it was my first car. full exhaust, cai, tune (believe it or not), lowered, drilled/slotted brakes, clear corner headlights, etc etc

'87 Buick Century Special Edition. I'm not sure what made it quite so special, but Hawaii 5-0 type boat steering and burning gas with a 90 HP engine didn't help. The car overheated and the engine was re-built twice to no avail and it died at 85k miles. I learned good knowledge about how cars worked with that car...

99 VW Jetta

Bought the POS cheap but within the week had to take it in for MAF issues. Taking the back roads north from Atascadero CA, i took a mild bend (this isnt an exaggeration or joke) at 35mph with 2 passengers in the rear. The car spun out into gravel, the rear right wheel bent outwards, the whole suspension assembly bent and punctured the fuel tank. I have seen better handling from geo metros and beat up corollas. Given, after I payed my deductible I sold the POS to the dealer where it was fixed and took the loss out of spite. Given I have steered away from VW's since.

1999 Ford Explorer Sport it is rear wheel drive and it was beat up on by my cousin as her first car then my brother as his first car. The car was trashed and only the passenger side door opened. Everything was broken except for the stuff I didn't use. It was two door and only had four seats including the driver seat. The steering wheel locked up on me on a very busy street in downtown Chicago in the winter and I found out that the car upper and lower ball joints were broke and thats why I bought my Impreza 2.5i premium which I love. I still have the explorer but it sits in my garage for now.

I actually had 2... when i was 16-20... and then of course is the awesome car I was restoring, in these pictures...

but, a 1994 Ford Taurus, that I drove for about 10k and slung a rod... it was awesome.. lol.. it had the 3.6 in it, and was slow as a turd... got a new motor, and gave it to my dad...

and, a 1998 Dodge Neon with bad rings, and it burned oil like a sonofobitch... it was pretty gay when I bought it.. it was painted orange, with a r34 body kit.. lol (rice much?) kept this crap basket for 2 years... never rebuilt the motor.. and ended up selling it to some 17yr old kid in Tennessee for just as much as I bought it for, and the only thing I changed after I bought it was a set of wheels, and repainted the car black..

and the car that I was restoring was a 1966 Dodge Coronet (I sold it when I moved though)

then when I was 20 I bought my WRX, and never looked back...

'86 Oldsmobile Calais 4DR Grey/Grey. Basically an '86 grand am with oldsmobile badging.

4 spots on it with a couple square feet of primer each.

It cought fire twice, but that didn't kill it.

I ran over a skunk and it stunk so bad that I had decided to give it away to charity for a tax right off.

Also had one of these, same options and color combo as this picture + carbed 1.3 4sp manual and it was mint inside and out. Handled great, only weighed 1800lbs.

A 1997 dodge neon.

List of problems included...

It leaked when it rained.

It smelled like mold from said leak.

Random electrical wierdness when it rained

I could stand on the brake pedal and coast to a stop. Never did figure out if it was a brake pad/rotor/line or just abs issue.

It was so underpowered that I never ran lights becuase I couldnt make it through the intersections in time ever or merge onto a highway at a decent speed or pass or well drive really.

edit: almost forgot the usual shock strut problems that ALL dodge / Chrysler are plagued with.

God I hated that thing.

A '92 Chevy Lumina, White. It was a four door, V6. Comfortable as hell, and lots of backseat room! Doors didn't open right, and my brother rolled down the rear passenger window on a snowboarding trip and it never rolled up again, it was a cold trip the rest of the way. It burned oil and overheated but, the body had 272,xxx miles on it and on it's second engine.

1990 Chevrolet Beretta. 2.2L 5 spd. Metallic Blue.

So, here's its sad little story:

It was stolen from its owner in South Florida and not recovered for 30 days, so the insurance paid out. It was later recovered and the insurance co. sold it at auction, which is where my uncle bought it...for my GRANDMOTHER! Yes, grandma drove a stick-shift.

While I was a freshman in college, grandma gifted it to me. It had 102,000 miles, faded and peeling blue paint and the rear seat was falling apart from sun-rot (it's a FL thing).

One day, the clutch broke. So, I drove it the 10 miles to a mechanic without using the clutch--requires careful rev-matching.

The master cylinder later went while I was driving, so I drove it back to the mechanic only using down-shifting and the parking brake (not recommended, btw!).

The water pump died twice. First, at the very last 200 ft of a 250 mile, 3-hour road trip. Second time, right in front of my apartment.

In 2001 it got rear-ended and the insurance totalled it (paid out a whopping $1200). But I just hadn't had enough, so I bought it back from the insurance company for $150!

I didn't fix it, but a couple weeks later I convinced a Nissan dealership to pay me $500 for it on trade-in...sight-unseen. The salesman's jaw dropped when I showed up with it and tossed him the keys...it looked like hell.

When we finally parted ways, it had 144,000 miles, peeling, faded paint, deteriorated rear seat headrests and a smashed-in rear end. I still miss it, though...well, not really. But no matter what, I always seemed to be able to will it to get to where I was going.

'84 full size Bronco, broken rod within 48hrs of ownership, then watched the tranny tumble and somersault down highway with parts flying back in '97. Had it only 3 weeks, biggest POS, never have touched an American made car since. Priors were a '80 K5 Blazer(3 months), POS, 86 Z28 ok, but problematic (1.5 yrs), 88 Jeep Wrangler XJ 4cyl, junk(8 months). Since 2 wrx's, 1 Honda, 2 Nissans, nary a problem minus wear items, Belts, Brakes, Hoses, etc.

Lots of different

I bought a brand new 07 Caliber... put 5000 miles on it and traded it in on an 04 SRT4. In that time period of 4 months the car was brought in for random issues over 30 freaking times. I always had good luck (and owned many) 80's and 90's Chryslers but all the 2000 and up stuff I have owned has been awful.

calibers suck... My girlfriend had one for awhile and it was awful. I drove it alot and it has the worst trans ever and man was it slow! Crappy interior aswell as horrible mpg, never seen the estimated mpg dodge claimed.

1979 Honda Civic with the three speed "hondamatic" slushbox. Car wouldnt do over 60 mph, overheated constantly, blew 2 headgaskets. I left it sitting in the driveway of a family I knew who were hoarders. They had like 15 old junkers in the parking lot, so I parked the $hitbox there and left the title in the front seat.
