Thumbs up My first Subaru

Newbie here!

Just got the keys to my new (to me) 02' WRX.

I'm still working on the details as far as what's in it, and you can be sure I'll be asking plenty of questions in next few months (after searching, of course...). It has 113k miles on it, and I paid $6k. I'll have it on the road in about a week, once I get the registration and new plates taken care of.

Nice looking. Already have front lip, painted side skirts, pink badge, rear lip, and cleared side signals. Looks clean.

I need to have it washed. It's been sitting on the re-sale lot getting covered in nasty yellow pollen of some sort. The front lip needs some work. It's scraped all to hell, and one of the mounts is broken.

I like the color. Wish I had an option besides the silver, but when a deal comes around, I can't be too picky.

Also, you might want to read up on the image hosting/posting FAQ.

I just finished removing all the stickers and most of the badges. There's a dealer badge remaining, bastards rivited it on the trunk. As soon as It's road legal, I'll take it out for a bath and some better pics.

Great deal.

Here is the '02 Bugeye I picked up for $6k a little over a year ago. It had 150k miles on it.

I sure do miss that car! Enjoy your Bugeye! Best body style WRX in my opinion.

Welcome to the forum and keep us updated with what changes you make to your car!

I'd just like to put out a big thanks to AcquaCow for his assistance with my stereo questions.

Updates:

Made some repairs to the front lip. Zip-tie will have to do until I can make something stronger.

Swapped out the shift knob for something more comfortable. The titanium STI piston is cool, but I'm not so sure about the comfort level. I may be selling it eventually, but I'm also thinking kick-ass key-chain...

Working on a temporary anchoring solution for the sub case in the trunk. Damn thing was sliding all over the place... not sure how well it's going to work.

Got a much more complete picture of how the sound system is connected.

Cleaned out the spare-tire compartment. Found some interesting things...

Of the free alcohol?

In all seriousness, my first subie was an 02 RWB WRX, it made me fall into the car that I now have. They are great cars all around, just be sure your Subaru techs get to go through and make sure everything is good. Well, all the fluids changed, make sure there are no issues with it. It's unfortunate but typically alot of the used subies are typically very abused by people that really enjoyed them. Then there are others that may have ben driven hard but were done right ^_^

Also, some colgate whitening toothpaste lathered up and rubbed in w/ your finger should clear up the oxidation on the headlights really well, then follow up w/ some rubbing compound and then a wash (the toothpaste will give a funky haze until it's washed off, I used to just wipe some armor all on em).

Try not to go too crazy too fast, gotta enjoy every bit of it before the mod bug takes over!
