Late 30's, married guy with toddler. Bought my PSM '02 WRX wagon last year after literally having the same honda hatch for 18 years. Always a subie n rally fan. So I guess it's sorta my midlife crisis car. ;-)

Plus I wanted a more reliable car with air conditioning- kid you not. And a 4 door for the carseat.

Love my subie and it came with moderate but safe mods so it's a sleeper. Plus I've been adding some bolt on handling n speed bits. Yeah it's funny when your older than the cop pulling you over.... Not funny when you are "pops" at the local subie owners meetup.

^ When I lived in TX we had a 50 something year old EVO owner putting down 350 whp in our "group". In my car club almost 10 yrs ago we had someone about the same age with a supercharged (and still slow as hell) 350Z.

Was it a black 350Z Track edition in the DFW area?

Id rather have a S4 then a subie. Interior is perfect with recaros and typical audi buttons and switches, but the real fun is the 4.2LV8 With quattro awd with a stick shift. And the exterior is very low key and classy.
Perfect car, not sure about the repair bills however, havent got that far into the research. haha.

I'm 35 and just picked up a 2011 WRX Limited. This is not however my first rodeo. I had a 1998 Ford Zx2 that was as modded as you could make one back in the late 90's. I/H/E, AFX pully, wings west body kit, lowered, sways, full energy bushings, superchip, and 17" konig tuners. All that work for a 15.00@91mph I then graduated to a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse. Another nowhere car lol. I/E and suspension was the limit. 14.6@95mph was the limit. I then had a 2004 Ford Focus SVT. This car was a handler, not so fast in a straight line but the handling and braking were superb. Dragged it once 15.4@89 mph, and took it to summit for a Friday track day. I never tried to enhance it's performance, I was afraid of the disappointment the car was truly a straight line dog so I sold it. I had been toying around with the idea of getting a 2011 mustang gt when my wife got into a wreck and killed our 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor. So instead I went with the best of both worlds (practical vs sporty) and got the WRX.

Wow, I dont know if I should get in on this... I'm 45, which apparently is 133 WRX years old. There are a couple reasons I bought my WRX. I got tired of not being able to finish other "project" cars. Also, compared to what I traded in, the WRX is economical like a Prius. I couldn't go from a Hemi powered Overland Jeep to an econobox though.

Disclaimer:I did not mean to offend anyone older than myself, if there is anyone here as such.

I had a ZX2 also! I ended up putting on all the parts from the SR before you could even buy that model. The best thing was I had a switch to turn off the speed gov. Bad thing was the car would sometimes shut off after driving past the gov speed.

I had the bushings in the box ready to put on but then someone hit me headon and destroyed the car. Had it all setup to run autox and then BAM, totaled I did end up getting a great settlement allowing me to get my Type R (instant autox car) tho.

Yep I had a few SR parts on mine, mostly the bushings, but my struts were out of the FR catalog for an SR. I had a set of sways I got at a junkyard off of a 95 Escort GT (they were WAY bigger). That car was on rails, and it looked pretty good for what it was too with the Wings West kit on it. The last couple mods I did were to support an esslinger prepped head I never bought, I did a bigger MAF, bigger injectors and a throttle body. I bet even with 3K in the headwork I still would've only been in the mid 14's lol.

Bought my STi at 27, now 31. Its modded, stage 3+. Love the car, but the oem exterior was quite enough. Only mods I added were a v-limited lip, perrin wing stiffis, fogs, and wider wheels (still gonna add an apr diffuser).

Ultimately it's all in the eyes of the beholder, do you feel old? Lol, if so then get a cadillac.

Ya, I hear you. I looked into swapping in a Cosworth motor until I saw the 20,000 dollar price tag.
