I'm hoping to do some track days soon and was wondering if 245/45/17 is too tall for track duty. I can get a killer deal on some lightly used Star Specs.

That's basically the exact outer diameter of the tires that come on the STI. Your speedometer will be off by 1.4%. You should be fine.

Quick noob question,im trying to see if this would fit on my wrx. Is a 18x9 +45 with a 265/35/18 tire,is it gonna rub? Or im ok? As of right now is in stock suspension but im adding some epic springs to drop it a few.what do you think? Thanks again.

I seen a lot of +35 offset but would a 17 x 9 255/40 with a +28 offset be a real issue on a sedan?

Hate to be asking but tire sizes confuse me for some reason. Got some 17x9 +40 wheels for my '11 sedan, and want the largest tire i can go to protect the wheel/not rub. Suggestions? Major wheel newb, its my first aftermarket set.
Edit: saw the posts above mine but thats a pretty large difference in offset so...i did read just sayin lol Edit #2: Im also on stock suspension with little to zero desire to drop the car, i like the monster truck/meaty look |

So I believe I have decided that I'm going to go with the ROTA T2R 18x9.5" +38mm Wheel and a Hankook Ventus V12 265/35R18 but I had one final question if you could oblige. I know this is a wheel fitment thread but I figured this is applicable to two different forums. If I were to lower the car with RCE Blacks, which is about a .75" drop front and rear, and with the additional wheel and tire weight would it still be ok to run these springs on the stock struts with the new wheels? The car is a daily driver and most likely won't be tracked often just some spirited/daily driving.

Stiffer springs will put more strain on your struts, so plan to upgrade those at some point. Last edited by sc00by4life; 03-12-2012 at 04:40 PM. |

Ordered a set of 275/35/18 MPSS for 18x9.5 ET45 wheels. Ill let you all know how fitting them goes but with my 265/35 DZ101s, they are actually a tad thin for the wheel and i have at least 10mm of inboard clearance as well as some outboard. Worst case is i throw a 3mm spacer in there and have to pull the fenders a touch.

I think I know the answer to this but I'd be interested in what Dan has to say about it. I would think at stock height it would likely rub with the 265/35's and with 255/35's would be pretty safe with a very slight chance of rubbing. Not sure how much difference the epic springs would make but again I would think the 265's would still probably rub without a slight rear roll.

Figured id give a quick update on 275 MPSS.
Got the tires mounted today and they fit with decent clearance on both the strut as well as rolled fenders all the way around. No rubbing on full lock and have yet to give it much in cornering. |

just FYI someone on the forum has done a 19x8.5 with a 235/35/19 et42 that fits without any modifying.

Does anyone here have experience with scrub radius and "numbing" of the turn in on wheels that venture too far away from the stock offset. I ask this because I was speaking with Dan at Epic Suspension and he said that on wider wheels with lower offsets you need to be careful how far away you stray from the factory offset because of the scrub radius. I had never heard this term before so I hit up wikipedia and got the following:
