Default bugeye rebuild

I have a coupe general questions about rebuilding the ej205.
I'm going with acl race bearings but what size fits the 2002? Can I reuse the head bolts after I have removed them? What has been the best way you guys have found to split the block? Any help would be appreciated! Or any parts anyone may have for sale. Thanks

Fastwrx.com has a pretty good guide to taking apart a block. You should go check it out.
As far as reusing head bolts. I've always read to replace. But I am in no way an expert.

The bearings you need are going to be size specfic to the cranksaft depending on if it has to be resurfaced or if it already is resurfaced. The crank will need to be machined first and the shop will tell you what they machined it to. You then have to buy the corresponding oversize bearings. With that said, you need Main bearings in Thrust position #5 and Rod bearings in 52mm. DO not buy them till you know what oversize you need. But if you have a NEW crankshaft you will order STD size bearings for both. Maximum over size for Subaru crankshafts are .50mm (US .20) on the rod journals and .75mm (US .30) on the mains. Make sure you relay that info to the machine shop

Best way to split the block with common tools is to make sure you have removed ALL the bolts! Some are hidden and hard to find. Then using a rubber mallet tap along the seam of the block where it splits. The at the front and rear of the block find a good solid place to give it some muscle with the mallet and work it evenly. There is a dowel pin on the front top and bottom rear that are pretty tight but require the block to be separated evenly to avoid damage to the block.

As for reusing the bolts.... meh. Maybe once if you have to and skip the backing off of the bolts in the tightening sequence because that is for stretching new bolts. New OEM bolts cost just as much as ARP studs so....... yeah pretty pointless to buy OEM in my opinion.
