Default overwrite cobb v1 map

my brother had his car broken into and they took his accessport which was in the glove box It was a cobb v1. Can the car be flashed via open source?? or will i have to either find a used/new ecu??

If it was a v2 AP you could do the following:

Find a neighbor with an AP. Temporarily divorce it from their ECU, marry it to your brother's, divorce it (flashing back an OEM map in the process), and then marry it back to the owner's ECU. That will wipe the locked AP map from your brother's ECU and allow it to be flashed via Open Source.

I'm not sure how things change with a v1 AP though.

Yes it can be reflashed with Opensource. The V1 did not lock the ECU like the V2. You can even pull the Cobb map off the ECU and manipulated it and reflash it.
