doesnt mean much without knowing what suspension hes on. or what size tires he wants.

the 17x9 +35 255/40 setup you linked likely works "ok" because hes on a mildly dropped stiff spring. but i bet he rubs when he hits a huge bump.

i have a 17x9 +44 that are used in the summer. with 245/40/17 tires (slight stretch) it still rubbed with Konis and RCE blacks and needed a rear roll. even with the camber at -2*.

17x9 +42/+45 is a great fitment, and sure it fits better than a +35 for obvious reasons, but that doesnt automatically mean its a non-issue type fitment. it still might require camber, or a roll, or both, depending on suspension specifics.

Failure? you show me your car, maybe we do not talk about.
yes your car is a failure.

lets take a look:

staggered setup
generally not a good idea for AWD as different amounts of tire stretch can affect overall tire diameter, will increase wear on the center differential. im not saying that your diff will implode, but i could see it potentially causing issues.

car is WAY too low
will not handle as well as a car with proper suspension travel and proper suspension geometry. you bought coilovers to slam your car. good job

improper tire size for wheel width
running a 205 width tire on a 8.5-9" wide wheel is just stupid. it looks stupid. it does not give you more performance, it reduces it.

not sure why im trying to tell you these things though, you're probably one of the ILDS idiots who cruise parking lots at 5mph and then claim they never have any problems. gee i wonder why LOL.

there are pics of my car earlier in this thread. feel free to scroll back and see what a proper wheel/tire/suspension setup looks like.

Summer:

17x9" ET44 Work Emotion CR-Kai
245/40/17 Continental ExtremeContact DW
RCE Black Springs (275/250 lb/in) lowers 0.75" (19mm)
Koni Sport (yellow) dampers
Whiteline 22mm rear swaybar

Winter: (i didnt post this because it didnt fit this thread's aim)

15x7" (ET unknown, guessing 45) Team Dynamics Pro Rally 1
215/65/15 General Altimax Arctic
King Lift Springs (~280/250 lb/in) LIFTED 1.5" (38mm)
Koni Sport (yellow) dampers
Whiteline 22mm rear swaybar

my car in "winter mode" will outperform your car LOL

I have since sold the RCE Black springs. will be using Feal 441 Coilovers for future summer seasons.

No where did I say it's a non-issue fitment. Merely that people ARE running comparable or slightly more aggressive.

The poster I linked mentions in another thread that he has a rolled rear, and running a larger tire than you with no issues.

Hell, I sold a local my old 17x9 +30 torques with a 245 federal (fits like a 255), and he was fine with a rear roll with no issues.

All of this information can be found in the two stickies at the top of the forum.

Finally got my Konis installed. I'm already running Epic springs and this combination is perfect for a daily driver. The car now feels the way it should when going over bumps and just driving in general. I haven't measured the hub-to-fender yet to see if the Konis dropped the front at all, but probably this weekend. Overall, I paid $880 shipped for Epic springs and Konis and I really don't see a coilover in the same price range outperforming this combination. The only ones that could maybe come close are the ISC N1s but I haven't really done much reading on those.

Very nice. Enkei is putting into production some good sizes and offsets of the RPF-1 because of the BRZ.

All good news

Anyone running the skinny XXR 530's? 17x7 +35 or 18x7.5 +32? Really interested in these wheels because I don't want anything aggressive.

The new Tenzo TZ7 looks good, but I would like to see how concave they are. Anyone has tried it or has pics of them installed?

It'll depend on size and offset, but those look like some TSW's already posted here, and they don't look like it will be a lot.

I'd imagine not concave at all like this picture.

And personally.. I'd stick with the Enkei Raijin or TSW Nurburgring over those Tenzo's.
Unless there is some reason to go with the Tenzo over the other two?

Nice S60R. And, I agree about the Raijins-absolutely love mine!

Default Fitment Question

I am looking to purchase some summer tires and wheels for my 08 WRX sedan, wondering if I will have any fitment issues. Will I need fender mods, or spacers, etc.

Saw some other 522 pics on here but no specs listed. Wanted to double check before ordering so i know if I need any additional work, confused on what offset to get as well.

Sorry for the noob post, first time looking to do wheels.

Want to get:
Wheel Specs: XXR 522 18x8.5 Gold 5-100 [(+48mm) or (+30mm)]
Tire and Specs: Hankook Ventus V12 EVO K110, 235/40/18
Suspension: Stock (coilovers soon)
Fender Modification: ?
Wheel Spacers: ?

+30 would be fairly aggressive, you would probably be ok on the +48 on stock suspension, but once you get coils you would rub. Google image wheel offset if you don't understand what it is, and go to a meet and ask around what people are riding on to get a feel for what you want. Less=more aggressive, I think stock on the 08 is 17x7 and like +53 or something like that.

I wouldn't necessarily plan on wheel spacers. Shoot for a size you think you want, and use spacers to adjust if necessary. It is debated, but I think the general consensus is that spacers are never ideal.

I still like that Tenzo setup Gregor, sweet wheels. Qwak, are you still running 255/40/17s? Meaty.

My summer setup is Sumitomo HTR ZIII 245/40/18 x 9 +38 Drag DR-31

My winter setup (pictured above) is Bridgestone Blizzak WS60 215/50/17 x 8.25 +25 XXR 527

The illusion of meaty with an aggressive offset and a tall tire (more ground clearance), while being narrow to cut through the snow.

Yeah there's two types of "meaty" in my opinion. Wide meaty and lots-of-sidewall meaty.

Do you mean that when he gets coils he'll rub ON the coils? Because a +48 with 235 tires isn't going to rub on the fenders, coils or not.

Apparently it's a fairly new wheel and there aren't pics around, that's the first I see installed. But they come in 37 offset, maybe that looks deeper. They also come in charcoal and in black, maybe those look better.
